Our staff is a small group of dedicated folks, passionate about living and helping others live out the mission of Orchard Church.
I was born in Grass Valley California and grew up near Smartsville, Ca. I was raised on 5 acres of land where we raised many farm animals. I grew up spending a lot of time outdoors fly fishing and swimming. I still love to get my line wet whenever I can as well as singing and playing music as often as I can! 2006 I graduated Nevada Union High School in grass valley, attended Butte College transferred to Chico State where I graduated in 2012 with my bachelors in music. I have my Masters of Arts in Theology and Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary. I currently live in Chico with my awesome wife Amanda and our little boy Mac.
Orchard church has a big part of my coming to know Jesus. While I was in college the pastor at the time invited me to lead worship and be a leader on Wilderness Experience summer trips. Those trips opened my eyes to God’s love and it started my journey as a music minister and pastor. I currently am the worship director at orchard church, back to the place I started over 10 years ago.
Our elders offer guidance to help lead Orchard Chuch in our mission to passionately follow Jesus as we serve our community.
Brent and Sibyl Morrison moved to the Chico area with their children in 1993 after 17 years in Sacramento. Neither grew up in strongly Christian families but came to Christ not long after moving to Chico.
Their daughter had a school friend whose family attended Orchard Church, so visited in 2002 while looking for a new church home. It was supposed to be the first of several churches the Morrisons planned to visit; it turned out to be the only stop as the family was drawn by Orchard’s heart for all who need Christ—which is everyone, regardless of where they come from.
Brent is founder and a partner in a business consulting firm based in Chico; Sibyl is a retired social worker whose career ranged from mental health and corrections to hospital services and hospice care. Their “hobby” is their grandchildren, who are both in the Chico area. Brent has been active with the Orchard Men’s House since its founding in 2005.
I am a husband of Natalie, father to Rhett, and accountant for Chico Unified School District. I have been an attendee of Orchard Church for over 3 years. After feeling stagnant at the church we were attending, Natalie and I had shopped around until we ran into a familiar face, Chad Fransen, and he encouraged us to check out Orchard. After checking others off of our list, we decided to give Orchard a shot and we haven’t looked back. Warm faces welcomed us and the message presented was clear, “All are welcome”.
I am a man of many hobbies and enjoy spending time playing music, baking bread, home renovation, etc… working with my hands really. Also, if you want quick witted puns or random trivia, I have you covered.
I am originally from Williams, California. Graduated there in 1976. Grew up in a farming family that also held very diversified family business. After graduating high school, I took over my family farming operation. In 1998, we sold our farming operation and being recently divorced I moved to Chico to live and work in the agricultural industry.
During this period, I began a search (or maybe for the first time began to see the evidence) of a God who loved me and wanted a personal relationship with me. In 2002, I ended a long period of drug use and gave my life to Jesus. On Easter Sunday, 2003, I attended Orchard Church for the first time at their Sunday meeting location at the Jesus Center. Immediately I knew that Orchard was my new home. After sharing my story with Jim Culp (founding Pastor) we began to dream of how to help and give the hope of Christ to people who attended this little church who after service many would return to the streets of Chico to live. After much prayer and seeking Gods lead, Orchard Church Recovery and the Orchard Church Men’s house began. Shortly thereafter, I became a full time director of the recovery ministry. In 2009, I married my wife Charlotte, together we have 5 children.
Currently, I have left full time ministry and am working as a farm manager in the North Chico area.
